Obagi Medical Products, Inc., based in Long Beach, California, is a specialty pharmaceutical company that develops, markets, and sells its proprietary line of prescription-strength skin-care products created to prevent and improve most common, visible skin problems. The company was founded in 1988 when it introduced the Obagi Nu-Derm® System which was developed by a team of skin-care experts. The Obagi Nu-Derm System works to change skin at the cellular level. Users report smoother, younger-looking skin with fewer age spots and wrinkles as a result of the Obagi’s products’ ability to reduce sun damage and improve healthy skin-cell function. Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel is a gentle cleanser that includes herbs and aloe vera to rid skin of pollutants, leaving it soft and clean. The gel is recommended for normal-to-oily skin. Obagi ELASTIderm is a unique topical eye treatment that has been proven to improve elasticity around the eyes while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The company calls the difference that users see and feel while using the product, “SNAP,” as the skin literally feels as though it is snapping back into place. Obagi CLENZderm MD is targeted to attack persistent breakouts and acne. Unlike other acne treatments use benzyl peroxide, it can remain on the skin surface, but Obagi’s patented Soluzyl Technology allows better absorption. The products use 5 percent liquefied benzyl peroxide combined with salicylic acid to remove oil and dead skin cells, and kills acne-causing bacteria.
